Free overnight parking for motorhomes and campervans at Port Solent is scrapped
Parking arrangements are changing at Port Solent
Free overnight parking for motorhomes and campervans at Port Solent is being scrapped as a result of increased numbers of holiday goers using it before they catch the ferry from Portsmouth.
From tomorrow (Wednesday, May 13), overnight parking for motorhomes and campervans will be subject to a £10 per-night charge, with stays also limited to a maximum of one night. The charges will not apply to cars.
Port Solent is a popular destination for continental travellers as a result of its facilities and free parking, as well as restaurants and bars on site. However this has led to a huge increase in the numbers of larger vehicles using the carpark, impacting on other local visitors also trying to visit Port Solent.

A spokesperson for Port Solent said: “Due to increased demand from vehicles seeking to join ferries departing from Portsmouth we are introducing updated parking management measures at Port Solent to ensure fair and consistent use of our facilities for all visitors.
“This will be managed by an independent parking operator using ANPR technology, alongside updated on-site signage to clearly communicate the terms of use. Payment for parking will be via Ringo or booking in advance using Just Park.
“These changes reflect an increase in demand for parking, particularly from longer-stay vehicles. Visitors are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the new terms before arrival.”
