Fort Nelson releases reopening details
POPULAR attraction Fort Nelson, home to the Royal Armouries Museum of Artillery, will reopen next month.
The heritage site, a fort constructed in the 1860s, and its museum will reopen on Tuesday August 11.

Dr Edward Impey, director general and master of the armouries said: ‘Visitors are the lifeblood of Fort Nelson and we are thrilled to welcome them back to this incredible piece of Britain’s defensive history.’
Entrance is free and booking via the fort’s website is required.
The site’s museum shop will be open, while its cafe seating area will remain closed and provide a takeaway service.
Visitors will be able to enjoy picnic space, summer trails and a maze, although some of the galleries and the barracks rooms will remain closed.
Those unable to visit in person can explore a new digital service on the Royal Armouries website.
A profile of a different artifact will be uploaded each day, alongside a summer programme on the theme of heroes and legends, including downloadable activity packs.
