Entertainment venue Fareham Live given five stars by hygiene inspectors

This is how an entertainment venue has fared in its latest hygiene inspection

An entertainment venue has been paid a visit by Fareham Borough Council’s hygiene inspectors.

Fareham Live, in Osborn Road, has received the top hygiene rating following an inspection which took place on Sunday, July 26.

Inspectors assess food businesses on the hygiene standards and overall management of their food preparation practices. Each venue is evaluated against the same three criteria: food hygiene practices, the condition and cleanliness of the premises, and confidence in management.

Fareham Live, which has an 800-seat auditorium and hosts a variety of arts, culture and entertainment events, has bagged a ‘very good’ rating for both its hygienic food handling and management of food safety.

The cleanliness of the condition of facilities and building has also secured a ‘good’ outcome, with inspectors checking the property layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control, all of which contribute to hygiene standards.

Businesses are rated from zero to five, with five being the best. If a low rating is issued it can result in intervention from hygiene inspectors or an immediate closure depending on the severity of the situation. High risk locations are generally visited every six months for monitoring, while those with good ratings are inspected every two to three years.
