Family-run Portsmouth business 'delighted' to have suspension notice lifted by Environment Agency
“We will continue to work with the Environment Agency to ensure we stay compliant,” a spokesperson said.
A family-run company that found itself under the microscope of the Environment Agency is now free to operate as normal.
Emmerson Transport Ltd in Ackworth Road, Hilsea, is a haulage hire and aggregates business, supplying a variety of building materials, lending grab and tipper lorries, and serving as a waste recycling facility. On Monday, July 20, the Environment Agency suspended the environmental permit for the waste site.

The firm was prohibited from carrying out any physical treatment, including the crushing and screening of waste, following an agency site visit.
But after improvements were made by the firm, in compliance with the Environment Agency’s notice, the suspension has now been lifted.
A spokesperson for the company said: “Emmerson Transport are delighted to have the suspension lifted on our environmental permit and will continue to work with the Environment Agency to ensure we stay compliant.”
Work to get the order lifted by the Environment Agency included moving the crusher, reducing the height of waste piles, repairing and replacing the micro netting around the site, and putting in place effective mist sprays to dampen dust.
