CTS Europe honoured with a prestigious award in a reflection of the hard work and dedication of staff
Well done CTS Heros !
A Portsmouth business has been honoured with a prestigious Kings Award for Enterprise - and said it is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of its staff.
CTS Europe Ltd operate from a purpose-built facility on the top of Portsdown Hill manufacturing specialist laboratory enclosures for handling research drugs supplying pharmaceutical companies worldwide.
CTS Europe is one of only 75 companies this year to receive the award - the highest official award for British businesses, celebrating outstanding commercial achievement.

Managing director Sean Codling said: “This is a very prestigious award and it is recognised all over the world. This award not only recognises our success, but it also recognises the way in which we do business as supporting the local economy and ethical trading is a key requirement.
“It is a really special honour because actually it is SME and Micro enterprise companies that have the ideas and the skill sets to keep the economy going. Blue chip companies may have the turnover, but it is the small companies that make things happen.”
CTS Europe has been trading since 2010 and Mr Codling told The News these products are 100% British designed and built, and over 75% exported worldwide, showing just how important the company is to the UK economy.

“We are a company which makes specialist enclosures for laboratories,” he explained. “In research laboratories, pharmaceutical drugs are advancing to a point where they are becoming incredibly potent. The scientists handling these drugs are at risk of being exposed and having serious side effects, in order to work safely, they need to handle them in specialist containment enclosures. We happen to be recognised as a world leader in this field. !
“Every member of staff will know every order that comes through the business. They work hard and take a lot of pride in their work, that is probably why we have such a great reputation.”
The Kings Award for Enterprise was presented to the company by the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, Nigel Atkinson who acts as the King’s representative for the county, also by the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth Abdul Kadir.

Mr Codling added: "It was a pleasure to have former Portsmouth North MP Dame Penny Mordaunt with us who was really helpful to us in the early years in helping us to deal with the failing PCC Planning Department.
“The PCC planning department placed a huge amount of unnecessary financial and operational pressures on the business simply due to poor administration and ethics. Were it not for the repeated support from Dame Penny Mordaunt, I would not have committed this level of personal investment in Portsmouth."
