Southsea curry house appears on TV - as boss reveals request to deliver to Japan
INDIAN restaurant The Akash made locals proud with its appearance on a Channel 5 documentary.
Faz Ahmed, from the restaurant in Albert Road, Southsea, said: ‘It felt good because we appeared on national TV representing Portsmouth which we love doing. We had a lot of local people tune in.'
The business made a name for itself by flying curry to 30 expats in France on a private plane in 2018.
This was featured on Saturday Night Takeaways: Binge Britain, a documentary about Britain and its relationship with takeaways which was shown on Saturday, November 7.

Faz said: ‘The News were the first ones to print it. It’s snowballed and is still on national TV after two years which is an achievement.’
The story has also been mentioned on The One Show and Countdown.
Faz said they have had many calls asking for air deliveries, including some from as far away as Japan.
Amid the pandemic, filming was not business as usual.
Faz said: ‘It was shot on an iPhone, I was surprised. The quality was so good.
‘We had the directors on Zoom. It was really surreal, I have been filmed before but never when no one’s there.’
