McDonald's confirms which Portsmouth restaurants will be closed to customers in third lockdown

McDonald’s has announced a change to its services following the announcement of the third national lockdown.

During the first shutdown the fast food giant closed all of its restaurants for months before reopening in the summer of 2020.

McDonald’s will be keeping its drive-thru sites open during the current lockdown, but it will close walk-in services on a temporary basis.

The announcement means that restaurants in Portsmouth which don’t have a drive-thru, including the one in Commercial Road, will be closed to customers.

In a statement, McDonald’s said: ‘Following the government announcements, we are please to remain open, but with a few changes.

‘Our restaurants across the UK and Ireland will be open for drive-thru and McDelivery.

‘Click and serve through the My McDonald’s app will be available at our drive-thru restaurants.

‘Dine-in and walk-in takeaway service will be temporarily closed in all restaurants from 11pm tonight (Tuesday) while we review and verify any additional enhanced safety measures for these services.

‘With smaller teams and social distancing in the kitchen it will take longer to serve you.’

The changes came into force at 11pm on Tuesday night.
