Gosport go-karting track reopens as lockdown measures are eased
BUDDING racing drivers can carry on earning their stripes in karting, as an indoor track prepares to reopen next week.
TeamSport Indoor Karting in Gosport is set to go lights-out on July 4, following the government’s easing of lockdown restrictions on the leisure facility.
The track at Fareham Reach, in Fareham Road, will still boast the same wheel-to-wheel action as before, but with additional safety precautions for racers.
Ozone sanitisation equipment will be used to sanitise all helmets, race suits and gloves before visitors put them on, with extra sets in the wardrobe so that there’s always fresh racing gear to use.

Racers are also welcome to bring their own racewear and helmet as long as it complies to the required safety standard.
Dominic Gaynor, CEO of TeamSport Indoor Karting, said: ‘The whole TeamSport team are delighted to be reopening and we’re looking forward to being able, to share the joy of go-karting again.
‘We understand that in the current climate people will be concerned about Covid-19, in regards to both their personal wellbeing and that of their family and friends, and would like to reassure customers that we have put in place a set of thorough precautionary measures to keep our customers and crew safe.
‘Our karting experience out on track remains the same exciting experience; being in a kart, racing round corners and having a great time is what karting is all about, and we hope people will come with family and friends to experience the fun.’
Drinks and cold snacks will be on sale for racers, though contactless payment will be a requirement.
TeamSport has 34 indoor karting tracks across the United Kingdom, with circuits in Southampton, Brighton and Reading, among others.
