Crowdfunded Package Free Larder set to open in Southsea

A STORE funded by more than 1,000 people is set to open.

The Package Free Larder, a plastics-free shop, pulled in £44,000 through crowdfunding at the concept stage.

Its founders have now revealed they are due to open the doors to the public and volunteers on July 11.

As reported, in April the owners found a shop to renovate in Elm Grove, Southsea, after an earlier difficulty finding a property.

Renovation work was hit by the lockdown but the former Steamachine site, which later turned into a CBD shop, is now transformed for the project.

In an e-mail the team said: ‘This shop is the definition of community love and solidarity and we couldn’t be more proud of everyone that has helped us get to this point.

‘Built for Portsmouth, by Portsmouth. Thank you for believing in us.’
