Coronavirus: Full list of the businesses that still have to remain closed in Portsmouth and Hampshire
THE easing of lockdown continued over the weekend as more businesses were allowed to reopen.
Bowling alleys, indoor skating rinks, indoor play areas, including soft play, casinos and exhibition halls and conference centres (although this should only be for government endorsed pilots) were given the green light to open on Saturday.
It followed the prime minister’s announcement at the end of July that the reopening of these business would be delayed due to concerns of rising prevalence of Covid-19 in the community within England.

After reviewing the latest data, the government announced on August 13 that bowling alleys and other venues listed above could open again on August 15.
However not all businesses have been allowed to reopen by the government.
The following places still have to remain shut:
- Nightclubs
- Dance halls
- Discotheques
- Sexual entertainment venues
- Hostess bars
All indoor and outdoor hospitality including, cafes, bars, pubs, and restaurants, can open unless they are a part of the premises of a business or venue which must remain closed. They can open if they are in self-contained units that can be accessed from the outside.
On the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s website it says: ‘We hope to continue to phase reopening further businesses as soon as possible, and will work with local councils which have a high prevalence of Covid-19 to consider local measures and guidance reflecting where further business openings could be delayed.
‘These restrictions will be kept under review and it remains our intention, subject to the prevalence of the virus, to open these businesses venues as soon as it is safe to do so.’
