Cheapest places to get diesel in south Hampshire

The average price of diesel is ‘burning a hole in people’s pockets’ as it reaches an all-time high, surpasses the £2 mark after weeks of steady increases.

Breakdown service, RAC, has today (Friday, October 2) said a litre of diesel will now cost drivers an average of 200.01p, up from 199.79p on Thursday.

Prices have continued rising in recent weeks and reached a new record high, exceeding the previous peak set in June 2022 in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

RAC head of policy Simon Williams said: “The average price of a litre of diesel has risen to a record 200.01p and is showing no signs of slowing, heaping more misery onto motorists. This will be very challenging for households and companies that drive a lot of miles, from commuters, haulage and delivery firms, businesses with large fleets all the way through to sole traders.

“In a cruel twist, it’s diesel vehicles, which were once considered the most cost-effective option for lengthy journeys, that are now burning a hole in people’s pockets.”

Using Fuel Finder, which is a government service that provides live fuel prices across the UK, The News has found the petrol stations in the area with the best diesel prices.
