A Barclays spokesperson said: ‘We are working hard to keep our branches open for as long as possible so we can continue to support our customers during this difficult time.

‘However, it was necessary to temporarily close Fareham branch today due to operational reasons. We are aiming to reopen the branch tomorrow and apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers.

‘The nearest Barclays branch currently open is at Gosport, however, in the current circumstances, this may change. Customers can find the latest opening hours and information on branch finder.

‘We encourage our customers to do their banking online or using the Barclays App and only visit the branch if it is absolutely necessary. Everyday banking can also be carried out at the Post Office.’
