Southsea Beach Cafe cuts indoor dining at original site due to 'challenges' ahead of New Year closure
Changes made at cafe
A beachside cafe will end its indoor dining earlier than planned due to “a number of challenges”.
Southsea Beach Cafe, which recently opened its second site along Clarence Esplanade, has confirmed it will end its indoor dining offering at its original venue in ahead of schedule.
The first site, which opened more than ten years ago in Eastney, is due to close in January 2027 due to the sea defence team commencing work over that part of the seafront.
But “a number of challenges” has resulted in the owners making the “difficult decision to reduce daytime operations” from October 4.

In a social media post, it confirmed the take-away hatch will remain open so customers can continue to enjoy food, drink and ice creams but they will no longer be able to eat inside.
Despite the changes, all new evening private hires will go ahead as planned and the sauna will remain open and bookable.
The post said: “We really appreciate your continued support and we hope you will still visit our takeaway and sauna.
“This wasn't an easy decision. Southsea Beach Café has been more than a place to grab a coffee. It's been the spot for sunny seaside breakfasts, catch ups with friends, family birthdays, and quiet moments watching the waves roll in. And that's all because of you.
“To every one of our customers, whether you've been with us from the very beginning or only found us this summer: thank you. Your loyalty, kindness and smiles have meant the world to our whole team. You've made SBC what it is, and we'll carry the memories with us. We look forward to welcoming you at our new venue on Clarence Esplanade, offering high quality, freshly prepared food and drink served with a view by our amazing SBC team.”
