boxChilli turns 20: Portsmouth digital agency marks milestone year with new look, record team and 20 charity acts
Portsmouth-based digital marketing agency boxChilli is celebrating its 20th birthday this year with a fresh new brand, its biggest team yet and an ambitious pledge to complete 20 charitable acts to give back to the communities it serves across Portsmouth, Chichester and Southampton.
Founded in 2004, boxChilli has grown from a small local start-up into a thriving digital agency, now employing 33 people - its highest headcount to date. Over two decades, the team has helped hundreds of businesses improve their online presence, and continues to work with a wide range of local companies including Hovertravel, Veteran Locksmiths, The Lighthouse Pet Hospital, Covers Timber and Builders Merchants, and Cornerstone Property Management, to name just a few.
To kick-start its 20th year, boxChilli has unveiled a bold new brand, the first major change to its look and feel since the company began. For a well-established agency, it was a brave step, but the rebrand is already proving successful, resonating with both long-standing clients and new businesses discovering the agency for the first time.
As well as marking the milestone internally, the team was keen to ensure the celebrations have a positive impact locally. Throughout the year, boxChilli will be working towards “20 charitable acts for 20 years”, focusing on local charities and community causes, with one of the first events being a beach clean in partnership with Final Straw Foundation scheduled for the spring.
Later in the year, the company will host a special celebration in September to bring the whole team together and reflect on the journey so far, with details to be confirmed nearer the time. The anniversary offers an opportunity not only to look back at 20 years of growth, but also to highlight the important role that local, independent businesses like boxChilli play in creating jobs and supporting other organisations across the region.
For boxChilli, this “big 20th year” is about more than just a birthday, it is a chance to celebrate its people, thank its clients and partners, and invest time and energy back into the communities that have supported the agency over the past two decades.
