A NEW bar and kitchen is opening up in a listed building that was once a bakery.

Bakers Bar & Kitchen is in Royal Clarence Marina in Gosport where The Victualler was before it closed.

A new owner has invested £1.4m in creating a new space, spread across two floors.

The downstairs will be a traditional bar and kitchen, offering locally-sourced food from tapas to roast dinners, live music and sport and speciality drinks.

The upstairs will be a cafe, offering cafe food and hot drinks.

The building was originally a bakery for the navy, and still maintains the original ovens, which are features of the bar and dining area.

The business will open on Friday, February 21 with rugby stars Steve Thompson and Ben Cohen attending the grand opening as well as Gosport’s mayor and other politicians.

The team is recruiting now for bar staff, managers, kitchen staff and chefs to join the restaurant.
