Young performers take to the stage at Whiteley shopping centre to promote new theatre show
Young performers took to the stage at Whiteley Shopping Centre on Saturday, 7 February, to celebrate and promote their upcoming theatre production.
Pupils from Performers Theatre Company treated shoppers to musical numbers from their forthcoming West End–style show, Peter Pan Jr, which will take place on 11 and 12 April at the Theatre Royal, Portsmouth.
The production is led by a highly experienced creative team, including Shelley Hart as Musical Director, with choreography by Alex Fentiman and Georgia Deloise.
Featuring a cast of young performers aged between 7 and 18, Peter Pan promises to be Performers Theatre Company’s biggest and most ambitious show to date. Audiences can expect large-scale musical numbers, dynamic dance routines and a number of surprises.
Principal of Performers Theatre Company, Sam Gibbs, said: “This is our fifth show since opening the school, and with every production we continue to raise the bar. We reinvest as much as possible back into the company so that each show is more polished, more exciting and more impressive than the last.
“Peter Pan includes a few surprises that we know audiences will love. Without giving too much away, it’s a production that will really lift expectations.”
Peter Pan marks the second time Performers Theatre Company pupils have performed on the Theatre Royal stage and is one of three productions planned for 2026.
Later this year, the company will also stage Little Shop of Horrors and School of Rock. Open auditions for both current and non-enrolled pupils will take place on 8 and 15 May.
Performers Theatre Company was founded in 2022 by former primary school teacher Sam Gibbs, initially alongside his teaching career. Following rapid growth, Sam left teaching in July last year to run the business full time.
The school now offers a wide range of performing arts classes – including dance, drama, singing and musical theatre – for both children and adults, catering to all experience levels.
The cast of Peter Pan Jr will perform again at the Meridian Centre in Havant on Saturday, 28 February, giving shoppers another chance to enjoy music from the show and learn more about tickets and upcoming auditions.
