Review | Six of the very best from Theatretrain Portsmouth
Theatretrain’s Six: Teen Edition is nothing short of sensational.
A vibrant, high-energy showcase of emerging talent that proves the future of musical theatre is in exceptionally safe hands.
Reimagining the lives (and rivalries) of the six wives of Henry VIII, this dynamic production bursts with personality and power. From the opening moments, the audience is swept into a whirlwind of sass, storytelling, and soaring vocals, all driven by six outstanding young performers asking the ultimate question: who really suffered the most?
Astrid Griffith-Cleeve commands the stage as Catherine of Aragon, opening the show with poise, strength, and a superb vocal performance that immediately sets the bar. Millie Clarke’s Anne Boleyn is a delight, brimming with razor sharp comedic timing, attitude, and infectious energy that ripples through the audience.
Sienna Salter’s portrayal of Jane Seymour is quite simply, outstanding. With a voice of extraordinary purity and control, she captivates from the first note, delivering her solo with breath-taking emotional depth, a moment of rare stillness and beauty in an otherwise electrifying show. Utterly spellbinding.
Maisey Wallace injects the stage with unstoppable fun as Anne of Cleves, radiating charisma and confidence, while Georgia Harland impresses as Katherine Howard, striking a careful balance between boldness and vulnerability. Isla Barnett rounds out the cast as a regal Catherine Parr, her commanding presence and rich vocals bringing authority and elegance to the finale.
Theatre Train’s Six: Teen Edition is an absolute triumph, a true joy to behold, performed with a maturity far beyond their years. A production that could stand shoulder to shoulder with its professional counterparts, and one that leaves no doubt that these six incredibly talented young ladies are super stars in the making, destined to see their names in lights.
