From performing at Sir Roger Moore’s memorial to sharing the stage with composer David Arnold, trumpeter Warren Ringham reveals how a lifelong love of 007 became the world’s leading James Bond concert experience — and why the 2026 UK tour promises to be the most thrilling yet.

For Warren Ringham, James Bond has always been more than just a film franchise, it’s part of his DNA. Long before he became the driving force behind Q The Music’s James Bond Concert Spectacular, he was a nine-year-old on holiday in Majorca, picking up a trumpet for the first time and quickly discovering a love of film music.

“My first pieces were the themes from M.A.S.H. and Star Wars,” he recalls. “There was something magical about playing music I already loved from the screen.”

Bond soon followed. A homemade VHS compilation of car chases made by his father introduced him to the thrills of 007, especially the unforgettable speedboat sequence in Live and Let Die starring Roger Moore. “It had everything - action, humour, outrageous stunts - I was hooked.”

That childhood passion would eventually evolve into what is now widely regarded as the gold standard of Bond concerts worldwide.

Ringham, whose father was co-principal trumpeter with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, trained at the Royal College of Music before embarking on a distinguished career that included 22 years as a musician in the Royal Air Force. Along the way, he freelanced with leading orchestras and built a reputation for musical precision and flair.

But the Bond show was his passion project.

“I remember sitting on the M25 with Bond music blasting out of the car thinking, why is nobody doing this properly? A full-scale concert dedicated to 007? That was the moment.”

The early days were far from glamorous. The first theatrical run in 2012 nearly bankrupted him. “Hardly anyone came,” he admits. “But those who did absolutely loved it. I knew we had something special.”

He was right.

Today, Q The Music’s James Bond Concert Spectacular has sold out theatres across the UK and beyond, earning praise from five-time Bond composer David Arnold, who has even joined the show on stage.

Among Ringham’s proudest moments was performing at Moore’s memorial at Pinewood Studios, an invite-only event for friends and family. “Growing up watching him as Bond, I could never have imagined we’d be playing at his memorial. It was surreal.”

What sets the show apart, Ringham says, is its authenticity. Every arrangement is painstakingly crafted to honour the original scores, from the brassy swagger of Goldfinger to the emotional power of Skyfall. The production is packed with subtle nods and Easter eggs for die-hard fans, yet remains accessible to newcomers.

“The energy, emotion and enthusiasm of the band make it thrilling whether you’re a lifelong Bond fan or just love great music,” he says. “It’s two hours of glamour, drama and pure escapism.”

Even a rare hearing condition, otosclerosis, which left him completely deaf in one ear, hasn’t dimmed his drive. After undergoing surgery in 2025 to fit bone-conduction hearing aids, he continues to perform at the very centre of the show he created.

“It’s part of who I am now,” he smiles. “And I’m not stopping.”

Now back for 2026 with its biggest UK tour yet, Q The Music’s James Bond Concert Spectacular promises a dazzling night of iconic themes, powerhouse vocals and world-class musicianship: a celebration of 007 like no other.

The show comes to Portsmouth’s Kings Theatre on Saturday 28th February.
