Robbie’s Slimming World journey to improving his physical and mental health

When Robbie Guest decided to join Slimming World, he knew something had to change. He was overweight, felt unhealthy, and his clothes were becoming uncomfortably tight.
More worryingly, his asthma was bad and he found himself out of breath just walking up the stairs. That moment became the final straw — and the start of a life-changing journey.
From the beginning, Robbie embraced Food Optimising and discovered a whole new relationship with food. He really enjoyed trying different foods and was surprised to find that he now genuinely loves vegetables. Salmon with vegetables quickly became his favourite meal, and having convenient Slimming World meals from Iceland made staying on track even easier.
Like many members, Robbie faced challenges along the way. One of the biggest was stopping eating bad foods and cutting back on alcohol. But more than anything, it was about changing his mindset around food learning to see it as fuel rather than comfort. That mental shift proved to be just as important as the physical changes.

The results speak for themselves. Robbie can now run, something he once could only dream about. This year, he even completed the Great South Run, an achievement that once felt completely out of reach.
The impact on his health has been huge. When Robbie was overweight, his asthma was really bad. Since losing weight, he now rarely needs to use his asthma pumps. As well as improving his physical health, losing weight has had a powerful effect on his mental health too, helping him feel stronger, fitter and more confident.
And Robbie isn’t stopping there. Feeling fitter than ever, he’s already booked himself onto several marathons for next year, raising money for charity along the way.
His message to anyone thinking about joining Slimming World is simple and heartfelt: “If you are thinking of joining Slimming World, do it! It’s the best thing I’ve ever done.”
From struggling for breath on the stairs to running races and planning marathons, Robbie’s journey shows just how powerful belief, support and a change in mindset can be.
Robbie’s Slimming World consultant Andi says ‘Robbie has been an inspiration in group. Watching his confidence and belief in himself grow every week has been incredible. He amazed us with consistent losses week in week out.’
You can join one of Andi’s Slimming World groups in Havant on a Tuesday evening and Bedhampton on a Friday morning.
