Portsmouth resident launches 'Presents for Pompey' gift drive
Local community organizer Sophia Benham has officially partnered with The Salvation Army in Portsmouth to launch the 'Presents for Pompey' holiday gift drive.
This critical campaign aims to bring essential holiday cheer and dignity to at least 45 vulnerable families in the local area who are facing severe hardship this season.
The joint initiative will support families identified by The Salvation Army’s outreach services, including those currently experiencing homelessness, living in temporary accommodation, and navigating challenges such as poverty, addiction, mental health issues, and complex trauma.
By working in conjunction with The Salvation Army, the 'Presents for Pompey' drive ensures that all donated gifts are distributed directly to the most isolated and vulnerable families in Portsmouth via a trusted and established network.
"This partnership is essential for bridging the gap between community generosity and those who need it most," says Sophia Benham, the drive’s founder.
"By teaming up with The Salvation Army, we are guaranteeing that every single gift is delivered with care and goes directly to a child whose family is in crisis in our local community. This campaign is about providing more than just a toy—it's about restoring a moment of magic during immense stress."
