The Weald & Downland Living Museum, Singleton, Chichester, is launching a new community initiative, Doorstep Days Out, offering local residents the chance to visit the Museum for a special reduced admission price of just £5.

Designed to welcome people who may not have visited for a while, or who have never been before, the scheme aims to make a day out at the Museum more accessible and affordable for local communities.

On selected dates in February, visitors living in specific postcode areas can enjoy discounted entry and rediscover what is right on their doorstep.

Clare de Bathe, Museum Director at the Weald & Downland Living Museum, said: “The Museum is a unique and important community asset. Doorstep Days Out are about welcoming our neighbours, removing barriers to visiting, and encouraging people to reconnect with this special place - whether they are meeting friends, enjoying some quiet time, or simply seeking a change of scenery.”

A Great-Value Time to Visit

Visitors taking advantage of the £5 offer will also be able to experience a rich programme of activity. From 31 January to 8 February, the Museum will be hosting its immersive Living History Week, welcoming back the Black Knight Historical Living History Team for their Candlemas Residency. This unique event offers a rare glimpse into 15th-century life during the depths of winter.

On Wednesday 4 and Saturday 7 February, visitors can also enjoy a sneak peek inside the iconic The Repair Shop barn, a must-see for fans of the popular television series.

Alongside these highlights, guests can explore the Museum’s ever-changing daily interpretation programme, reflecting the seasonal rhythms of rural life.

A visit to the Weald & Downland Living Museum offers the perfect opportunity to step away from technology, get outdoors, and experience history at a gentler pace in one of Sussex’s most distinctive open-air museums.
