‘Let’s Make Music’ songwriting competition launched with star-studded judges

An exciting new music competition has been launched in Portsmouth.
Singer-songwriter and community music champion Hellen Bach has announced the launch of an exciting new songwriting competition, Let’s Make Music, bringing together aspiring and established songwriters from across the region.
The competition features an impressive judging panel including legendary broadcaster Ken Bruce, renowned songwriter and producer Mike Batt, pop icon Chesney Hawkes, and YouTube executives Lizzie Dickson and Alex Rawle.
Two winning songs will be selected for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to record at Quay West Studios in Gosport, working alongside professional musicians. One winning entry will be awarded to a solo songwriter, and the second will recognise a collaboration — encouraging creativity and connection within the music community.

The competition follows a series of successful music workshops created by Hellen across Gosport and Portsmouth, designed to bring like-minded people together, nurture creativity, and make music accessible and enjoyable for all.
Leading the workshop sessions is Britain's Got Talent star and local singer Amba Tremain, known locally and nationally for her powerful live performances and soul-inspired sound. Amba will guide participants through a relaxed, inclusive session focused on building creativity and confidence. The workshops will culminate in the songwriting competition, offering participants the opportunity to showcase their original songs and celebrate local stories through music.
Importantly, attendance at a workshop is not required to enter. Songwriters who have not participated in the workshops can still submit their original music directly via:
Entries open from March 1st.
Let’s Make Music aims to inspire creativity, champion new talent, and celebrate the joy of songwriting within the community and beyond
