Lee’s National Coastwatch in ‘Sounds of the 60s’ Fundraising Effort

Supported entirely by donations from the public, the Volunteer Watchkeepers from Lee on the Solent’s National Coastwatch are organising a concert to help raise funds for their Station. Headlining at the Crofton Community Centre, Stubbington on the 18th October; the Sarisbury Green Big Band will be playing a selection of hits from the 1960s.

All profits from the concert - tickets are £10 and available from the Station and some local shops in Lee - will go to support the Station. The all-Volunteer Watchkeeping Crew act as the eyes and ears of HM Coastguard, raising the alert when danger is spotted on the Solent's waters and beaches.

Specialists in Water Safety also visit local schools to educate classes about the dangers posed by the sea. The Station is manned 365 days a year and new recruits from all backgrounds and age groups are always welcome, but Station Manager - Jaye Isherwood - insists that a Press Gang will NOT be operating on the night of the concert!
