When Louise Rodgers first joined Slimming World, her confidence was at rock bottom.

Seeing a size 20 on her clothing label was the wake-up call she couldn’t ignore. “I realised I wasn’t choosing clothes I liked anymore,” Louise says. “I was just buying what fitted. My confidence was rock bottom, and I knew something had to change.” Fast forward to today, and Louise has lost an incredible 3 stone 12lb – and has proudly been at target for 17 months. But for Louise, the transformation goes far beyond the scales.

Finding freedom with Food Optimising

What does Louise love most about Slimming World? The flexibility of Food Optimising and how easily it fits into real life.

“The flexibility of free foods, how easy it is to adapt your favourite meals into healthier, tasty versions – it just works.”

As someone who is coeliac and lactose intolerant, Louise faced extra challenges along the way. Being diagnosed meant learning how to eat again from scratch, but Slimming World gave her the tools and confidence to do just that.

“I had to learn what foods didn’t contain gluten, and then bring that knowledge into Food Optimising. Once I did, it all clicked.” Slimming Worlds Food Optimising really does fit in to any dietary requirement. It’s just normal food after all.

She can still enjoy baking as a hobby, still eat cake, and still feed the whole family – proof that no one needs to miss out.

“Chicken dishes are always a winner in our house,” Louise adds.

A healthier, happier life

Before losing weight, Louise struggled with knee pain and found walking difficult without discomfort. Now, those aches are a thing of the past.

“My knee used to really affect me – I couldn’t walk very far without pain. Now it doesn’t bother me at all.”

The changes have opened up a whole new world. Louise can now run around with her children and grandchildren, walk more, wear what she likes – and most importantly, enjoy life.

“I feel like I can lead a normal, happy life again.”

The mindset that made it stick

Louise believes the key to her long-term success is planning and mindset.

“Planning and the right mindset is everything,” she says. “Once you’ve got those, you’re already halfway there.”

Having been a Slimming World consultant in the past, Louise knows just how powerful the programme can be when life gets busy or throws challenges your way. After stepping away to care for a family member, she returned in April 2024 with renewed focus and commitment to the role and her members.

Now, 17 months at target, Louise is living proof that Slimming World isn’t a diet – it’s a way of life.

“I didn’t just lose weight,” she says. “I found myself again.”
