Wimborne Care Home on Hayling Island is a home for residents who may be frail or living with dementia. It has 47 light and airy rooms, a broad activities programme, delicious food and throughout there is a team of dedicated staff who are employed for their caring attitudes above all else. Wimborne also has a great reputation locally for engaging with their local community, offering a wide range of regular events that are open to all and certainly popular.

This month they have combined all these things in a Special event.

On Tuesday 31st March at 2.30pm there is a special talk being given;

‘Dementia Communication; improving awareness and having effective strategies that reduce stress’.

The Speaker is ex NHS specialist Dementia Coach and Educator Nikki Shepherd, who now works for Barchester as a Home Services Advisor.

Nikki will share hints, tips and techniques to help those in a Dementia support role and it is a comfortable presentation for anyone who is living with a diagnosis too. She has a relaxed and engaging manner and will make reference to sources for further help and support.

Wimborne’s General Manger Stephen Stace commented: “At Wimborne we are communicating all the time with our residents and we are aware of how challenging this can be for anyone at any stage in the journey. As such we are delighted to have Nikki’s expertise on hand, for the benefit of our community. We will lay on some refreshments, we have a comfortable conservatory which offers the perfect space, but spaces are being booked quickly so we urge people to book their seats now. Call us on 02392 467369.’

Wimborne care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering personalised care across its care homes and hospitals. Wimborne provides residential and dementia care for 47 residents from respite care to long term stays.
