“The Masterpieces” show celebrated Drag Kings in an all Trans and majority POC line up, a first for Portsmouth. And featured talent from across the UK, Major Dom, Mild Peril, Manique Episode and Dandy Issues. The project was funded by Queer All Year and Downtown Pompey.v
DragJam originates in Hong Kong with their second chapter opening in Barcelona, Spain. Portsmouth is now the third home for this growing international community. Founded by Zsa Zsa Who and Muschi Drag, the UK chapter is run by Portsmouth’s own Azure Thang.
“I want to create wonderfully weird Queer events here in Portsmouth” said Azure Thang of DragJamUK.
"We need more places for Queer folks to express themselves and I want to grow this community through future shows and workshops.”
Craig Maxwell who attended the show said “A joyful, brilliantly unhinged celebration of drag king artistry. Bold, creative and unapologetically queer, gimme gimme more!”
