Great British Bake Off: Waterlooville's Dave Friday makes social media plea for trolls to be kinder to contestants
A Great British Bake Off contestant has urged viewers to be kind and not lash out if their favourite is evicted from the baking tent.
Last night Dave Friday from Waterlooville survived patisserie week, receiving a glowing review from the judges for his mini cube masterpiece, and it earned the 30-year-old security guard a place in next week’s final along with fellow contestants Laura and Peter.

Despite specialising in French patisserie, Hermine was sent home.
After leaving the tent, she said: ‘I believe everything has a reason. It was the right time for me.’
But the decision caused upset for some fans who took to social media to air their opinions about Hermine going home while Laura has been trolled for making it to the final next Tuesday.
In a post on Instagram today, Dave wrote: ‘It’s such a shame to see how nasty people can be online.
‘Everyone needs to remember that it’s only a baking show.
The show is based on how well you did on the day and not a reflection of previous weeks.
‘A passing comment to you could have a lasting effect on a person’s mental health.
‘I’m asking everyone to please #be kind.’
Former contestant Michael Chakraverty tweeted: ‘REMEMBER you can show solidarity with your fave going home WITHOUT slagging off the others.
